Hana Lili’s latest single Small Talk explores her struggles with social anxiety and connecting with others. As she sings in the chorus, “It’s easier to stay in the shadows, ‘cos I’d drown in the ocean, lie awake in bed regretting every word that I’ve spoken.”
While the lyrics express nervousness, the melody itself comes from a place of confidence. Hana takes influence from pop/rock acts like No Doubt, The Cardigans and Fleetwood Mac. Her soft, articulate vocals deliver poignant messages over a driving pop instrumental.
