Katryna-Florence grew up listening to Etta James, Céline Dion, and Lauryn Hill before being inspired by Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Lianne La Havas. Her latest single, Baby Blue, incorporates elements such as guitar. It’s surprising how technically complex the production is. The vocals have a dreamy quality, and are especially fascinating when layered.
Baby Blue explores the emotions and pain associated with turning to something that is ultimately harmful, yet oddly comforting and familiar at the same time. The lyrics are poetically rich.
