Following on from last Autumn’s single release – The Summer of Hate, The Dandy Warhols have today shared their latest single, ‘Danzig With Myself’, featuring Pixies frontman Frank Black. The single is the first to be taken from the band’s twelfth album, ROCKMAKER, which is set for release on March 15th via Sunset Blvd. Records.
Speaking of the track, and collaborating with Frank Black, vocalist Courtney Taylor-Taylor recalls:
I was just checking in with him, and he happened to be in Zürich, I hooked him and some of his family up with some very interesting museum tours first, then I asked him if he would play on our record. The result? Of course, he did!
A band that is always experimenting with their sound, pushing the boundaries of their creativity, ROCKMAKER is set to delve into minor guitar chords that are often categorised with post-punk, deep metal, and even goth. Of the concept, Taylor-Taylor states, ‘Sometimes we have a very focused idea of what we want, It’s generally what we want somebody else to make but since they never do, we have to. It has a very specific sound. There aren’t a lot of heavy guitar records currently coming out that we like, so that was the impetus for Rockmaker.”
The album’s release is the band’s first since previous album, Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone, which was a 3-and-a-half hour exploration which was described a ‘soundtrack which would typically score a mid-16th century banquet.’
