Indie rock ensemble Broke Royals take a fresh route with their newest EP, Big Dream. You might be wondering what that means? Well, it’s the first time not every song features Philip Basnight on lead vocals. Here, Rebecca Basnight and Taimir Gore are also able to show off their powerful singing abilities.
The EP kicks off with the energetic title track Big Dream. This anthem embodies the band’s recognizable sound with shimmering guitars and an infectious hooky chorus. Next up is One Look, a rhythmic track featuring retro 90’s influenced production. Bright vocal melodies, pounding drums keep the beat on this melodic tune chronicling a fascinating love tale.
No Time For Love wraps up the upbeat first half of the EP. Its production maintains much momentum and impact. The fourth track, Toasted Almond, finds Broke Royals experimenting with an acoustic approach. Vocals echo and fade amid the music.
With Is This It (The Strokes cover), Broke Royals dip their toes again into uncharted waters and come up with a track that’s as memorable as it’s moody. The song rounds out the EP uniquely, hinting at new creative paths the band may continue to wander down in the future.
Broke Royals are currently at the peak of their game. Yet, we believe they have the potential to ascend even further. Do give Big Dream a listen below!
