Los Angeles Activists to Host Vigil for Nex Benedict this Sunday [2/25]

Join us this Sunday (2/25) for a Candlelight Vigil & March in Los Angeles, as we come together to honor the memory of Nex Benedict.

QueerXcellence, along with Ryan Cassata and Shane Ivan Nash, extend an invitation to join together in community to pay tribute to Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old Choctaw, non-binary student, who tragically lost their life after a violent incident in their Oklahoma High School bathroom.

Our heartfelt thanks to the West Hollywood United Church of Christ (always affirming and accepting) for graciously hosting our community during this significant loss.

Updated Location: 7350 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046

VIGIL STARTS @ 6 PM, MARCH DOWN SUNSET TO FOLLOW

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILIES, TRANS ALLIES, & COMMUNITIES. THANK YOU. With deep condolences to the Choctaw tribe this 2Spirit loss will not go silent.

The surge in hostility and violence targeting transgender individuals is closely linked to the escalation of anti-trans laws and the spreading of hateful messages by conservative media and politicians. This vigil aims to provide solace, a supportive environment for our community, and to inspire action in confronting discriminatory legislation and attitudes. It is imperative that we demand accountability from politicians for the detrimental impact their policies are inflicting on our youth.

We gather for Nex Benedict. We gather for trans youth. We gather for trans people. We gather for a better future.
