From the organisers behind Brighton’s top independent promoter JOY. Concerts and the team behind the popular music and arts festivals Manchester Psych Fest and Edinburgh Psych Fest comes Brighton Psych Fest – taking place for the first time this year.
Scheduled for Friday, August 30th, this one-day festival will take place in some of Brighton’s most iconic venues, promising to celebrate all things psychedelic. The festival has already announced two waves of acts, with an impressive lineup including The Horrors, Holly Macve, NewDad, Pigsx7, SCALER, bdrmm, Divorce, Molly Payton, and more.
Brighton Psych Fest Lineup
Today, Brighton Psych Fest has announced a stage curated by comedian and music aficionado Stewart Lee. The five artists handpicked are set to appear at Brighton’s Komedia and are truly bringing the ‘Psych’ to Brighton Psych Fest – offering a diverse mix of genres and innovative sounds, showcasing talent with an emphasis on musicians from Sussex and surrounding areas.
On being asked to curate a stage for the festival, Stewart Lee states:
Brighton Psych Fest asked me to host and program a stage, which is reckless of them as the last thing I curated, the 2016 Prestatyn All Tomorrow’s Parties, went bust. And no, I didn’t get paid either. Nonetheless, here’s a mind-melting day out of acid-hued action from five of my favourite acts, with minimal onstage interruptions from me.
He continues, “I’ve tried to skew the selection towards Brighton and Hastings talent because sometimes we don’t always acknowledge the geniuses on our own doorsteps.”
General admission tickets to Brighton Psych Fest are available to buy now.
