Manchester indie-pop quartet The Covasettes are back with the breezy, shimmering indie-pop bop ‘Love In Polaroid’. Known for their infectious musicality, earworm melodies, and relatable lyricism, the band once again delivers a track that showcases why they have gained widespread popularity through sell-out shows across the UK and a plethora of festival appearances.
Produced by the band’s bassist and talented engineer, Jamie McIntyre, and mixed by John Catlin (Inhaler, Jordan Mackampa, Talk Show), “Love In Polaroid” quickly establishes a soundscape rich with clean guitar tones, warming bass, tight drums, and subtle synths. This creates a restrained yet warming indie backing. Topped with understated, relaxed, and emotive lead vocals, the track balances its pop sensibilities with a fresh, summery indie sound reminiscent of early Bombay Bicycle Club and Two Door Cinema Club.
Speaking about the meaning behind the track, the band explains: “It’s almost as if when the clocks go back, something within this band chimes and all of a sudden we come alive. We were born to make songs to drive along to on a hot summer day with your pals and this song is ready to do all the above and more.
It’s a really fun song about the initial stages of dating someone and getting into a relationship where everything feels so fresh, exciting and almost dream-like. I tried to encapsulate that feeling in a sense where it’s like nothing can go wrong for you, that’s how I want people to feel when they listen to it.”
Later this year, The Covasettes are set to embark on their biggest tour to date, capitalizing on sold-out shows across the country, over 12 million Spotify streams, and standout performances at UK festivals. They continue to be astounded by the milestones they’ve achieved in just a few years of making music. Highlights include a main stage performance at Truck Festival, sharing the stage with Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines, Sundara Karma, Giant Rooks, The Sherlocks, and more, along with national radio play on Radio 1 and Radio X, and heavy support from BBC Introducing and XS Manchester.
Having already received a number of placements on editorial playlists across Apple Music and some glittering reviews, ‘Love In Polaroid’ is poised to be the soundtrack of many more memorable moments, perfectly capturing the euphoria and dreaminess of new love through its captivating indie-pop charm.
