Berlin’s Indietronic Duo, Bromsen, Blend Genres on New LP

What’s up, Pigeons!? You have got to hear Berlin’s Indietronic duo Bromsen!! We have recently had the pleasure of discovering their debut album “Brothers in Mind” and can’t get enough of it. Bromsen are Richard and Karlo Bromsen, two musicians and friends, that have known each other for over 20 years.

The record kicks off with “One by One,” a high energy track with pulsating synths and a dance beat that is perfect for the club. This song features a vocal delivery that has a sense of urgency, getting the listener excited about the rest of the record. This song has a captivating hook melody that will be stuck in your head for days to come. This is the perfect introductory song to Bromsen, and their unique fusion of genres.

“Merrymen” is a song that reminds the listener to not take anything too seriously. This was the first song that the two wrote together as Bromsen. The excitement can be heard in the performance of the track. This song centers in a minor key while featuring a heavy dance beat and pulsating synths. The song has a spooky vibe to it during the verses. The chorus turns into something that sounds more epic and attention grabbing.

Nirvana-like guitars kick off “We!” This song gives the listener a taste of Bromsen diving more into grunge. The song still features a dance beat underneath a wall of distorted guitars. The vocals lean towards grunge and metal. This song fuses two genres. The elements from each genre are very distinct, easy to pick out, but the sounds mesh together in a unique way to create a great song. This is the song that got the band signed to their label Epictronic. It’s currently the most popular song on the record on Spotify.

“We!” is a key theme, as it is about the deep friendship & brotherhood between Richard and myself which enabled us to complete this long and sometimes challenging journey with “Brothers in Mind.” – Bromsen

The pace picks up a bit for “Always On The Right Side.” The vocals and synths have a mysterious flavor to them. With captivating lyrics and soaring guitars, this song is one of the major standout tracks on the LP. It’s definitely my personal favorite from the first five tracks. Bromsen says: “[this song] has a very special atmosphere and was inspired by a mystic night walk through the London Dock Area, one of these experiences you will always remember and which lets you think that there must be something out there, which we have no clue of.”

“Someone” has synth lines that will surely get stuck in your head! This song is an upbeat anthem that brings a happy energy to all who listen. The lyrics of this song are ones for the misfit artists. It’s about following your artistic path instead of following the mainstream. An 80s hair metal guitar solo will surprise listeners towards the end of the song, gifting them something new to cling onto. The lyrics of “No One” follow this song perfectly. This song continues on with the message of following your own path. Bromsen says “believe in yourself, only you can make it happen.” Heavy synths and punk style vocals make this track very memorable!

The second most popular song on the record after “We!” is “Read About It.” This is another song that has spooky vibes. The haunted vibe makes perfect sense for the lyrics which are all about our rock n’ roll inspirations that have passed away. Now we can only read about them or watch videos to know them more! This song showcases another side of Bromsen and the genres that they cover.

“Read About It” is about all our heroes from the past which are not with us anymore, so we can only read about them. Maybe also a key track of the album. It had been selected by Rolling Stone en Espagnol at the time and we certainly love that very special song. – Bromsen

“Catch” is the only collaboration on the record. Bromsen teamed up with PIXEL METH for this experimental banger of a song. The lyrics are quite cryptic so listeners can make of them what they will. This song sounds like a serious throwback to the 1980s. This sound is an epic vibe and one of my personal favorite songs on the record. I hope that Bromsen teams up with PIXEL METH more in the future! The synths continue! “Sweet Lies” is a trippy song with massive synths. The synths seem to be the main focus of this track. The lead synths buzz in a way that is very sonically pleasing.

“The Photograph” is a tribute song to Bromsen’s old band and former bandmates. They use the song to reflect on where they started together and where they are now. It sounds like a form of gratitude. One thing is clear, the Bromsen duo loves to create and play music, especially together. “More Time” echos this sentiment and gives the listeners a great closer track that encourages them to start from the top!
