Hailing from Eastern Pennsylvania is Ghost Wounds! In perfect timing for current events, the band has released a 3 song EP titled “Slow Apocalypse EP” (via Better Living Through Records / Engineer Records) featuring songs about personal, national, and global devastation. The song is available on streaming platforms and also in vinyl form. I really enjoyed this record and I’m excited to provide a track by track recap about this incredible EP.
The opening track, “Fate of Lust,” is the first song the three-piece band wrote together. It starts with haunting distorted guitars, keeping listeners on edge before the drums and vocals kick in with a unique rhythm. The track pulls the listener into a sound filled with tension and massive emotion, resting between punk and grunge due to its attitude-filled, angst-ridden vocal delivery. Lyrically, it explores themes of lust and love, describing a situation where lust ends in toxicity instead of turning into a positive relationship.
