Manchester based indie-alt-pop trio Isla Rico has returned with one of their most radiant and feel good releases to date, the irresistibly upbeat and carefree ‘Wavelength’.
Bringing infectious melodies and a vibrant sense of energy, the track brings together radiant pop production with layers of synth, piano and guitar over choppy tight beats. Produced by the celebrated Andy Gannon—whose impressive portfolio includes collaborations with the likes of Clean Bandit and Rudimental, ‘Wavelength’ showcases Isla Rico’s undeniable knack for crafting catchy, feel-good tunes.
As the track progresses into its radiant chorus, the lyricism captures a carefree, upbeat essence that is at the heart of the track as the lyrics talk of not ‘sweating the small stuff’ and just enjoying life. Balancing their playful energy with a polished, mature sound that highlights their growth as a band, the result is a song that feels both timeless and refreshingly current—a perfect reflection of the band’s philosophy of spreading positivity and joy through their music.
Talking about the track, Isla Rico explain: “Recording Wavelength started out how most of our tracks do, cosied up in Andy Gannon’s Manchester studio throwing ideas at the wall. We didn’t know when Cal wrote this song and launched the idea out at us all it would evolve into exactly what we needed! As the song came more and more to life we realised we had something that not only perfectly encapsulated and emoted the band’s ‘carefree good times’ philosophy and message, but also something that musically that classic and timeless, as well as striking all the indie-pop tones that make it equally fresh and current.
