Northampton’s emerging rock powerhouse, Fountain, returns with their latest single, ‘Itch’, an electric burst of garage rock released on October 18th. This track is a thrilling preview of the band’s upcoming debut EP, ‘Talking To Ghosts’, set to drop on November 15th, and it coincides with the announcement of Fountain’s first-ever UK headline tour.
Produced by renowned mixing engineer Lee Russell, ‘Itch’ captures Fountain’s signature high-energy style, combining fierce guitar work, dynamic drumming, and a melodic, indie-flavored lead vocal that gives the track both bite and broad appeal. The track’s precision and intensity reveal the band’s talent for melding gritty rock sounds with accessible, hook-laden compositions.
Written by lead vocalist Jordan Noon in his teenage years, ‘Itch’ is a visceral ode to the untamed spirit of young love. Noon reflects, “‘Itch’ was partially written at a time when responsibility was a foreign concept. It’s a reflection on love in its purest, rawest form.” This youthful intensity, revived and refined in Fountain’s current sound, underscores the band’s knack for creating deeply relatable music that resonates on an emotional level while delivering the adrenaline rush of garage rock.
Since forming in 2023, Fountain has quickly made waves, with their debut headline show selling out and notable performances at summer festivals in 2024. Already highlighted as BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week and featured on BBC Radio 6, they’re building a reputation as a must-watch act.
Drawing from influences like The Black Keys, IDLES, White Stripes, and Queens of the Stone Age, Fountain weaves together explosive riffs, anthemic energy, and resonant lyrics. Their debut EP ‘Talking To Ghosts’ promises to showcase this signature sound, signalling the arrival of a band ready to take the UK rock scene by storm.
