Scottish-born indie-rock artist Quinny has released a new video for ‘Up The Dollar,’ the latest single from the debut album Outer Monologue, which is out now.

‘Up The Dollar’ is a perfect example of Quinny’s unique approach to songwriting. Initially conceived as a playful experiment in writing from an alt-right perspective, the track ultimately became more of a comedic take on the subject, layered with biting social commentary. “It’s my attempt at writing a song from an alt-right perspective,’ Quinny explains, ‘but my own bias kept creeping in, and it turned into something else entirely.” With a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor, the song invites listeners to dig into its cleverly constructed lyrics and infectious energy.

Outer Monologue brings together 11 tracks that highlight Quinny’s versatility as both a writer and performer. Produced by Robin Evans (The View, Dodgy) and Melbourne musician Rowena Wise, the album moves effortlessly between moods and styles, from the lush, shimmering tones of ‘Raining Monarchs’ to the introspective melancholy of ‘Darkness at the Door.’ Quinny’s knack for combining intricate guitar lines with memorable melodies is apparent throughout, as is his ability to balance sincerity with humor.

The album also features a stellar roster of collaborators, including Marie Collins (The Vegan Leather), Graham McCusker (Marouli), and Kieran Logan (Kassidy), whose contributions add depth to Quinny’s already vivid soundscapes. This collaborative spirit reflects Quinny’s approach to music—a blend of individual creativity and collective effort, resulting in songs that feel both personal and expansive.

Quinny’s musical influences are as diverse as his sound, citing bands like Biffy Clyro, Blink-182, The Beatles, and Bombay Bicycle Club as key inspirations. After building a solid foundation with tours across the UK and North America, Quinny relocated to Melbourne in 2020, finding fresh creative momentum in his new surroundings. The result is a debut album that feels both deeply rooted and adventurous.

Quinny has already received significant attention for earlier releases like ‘Settlers’ and ‘Everything You Want,’ both of which earned airplay on BBC Scotland and praise from outlets like Backseat Mafia and Tenement TV. His music has also crossed over into the visual realm, with his song ‘Friends’ appearing in the BBC comedy short Cable Tied. The video for ‘Up The Dollar’ continues Quinny’s tradition of pairing his music with compelling visuals, cementing his reputation as a multidisciplinary creative talent.

With Outer Monologue, Quinny has delivered a debut album that feels like a genuine statement of intent. Packed with humour, heart, and sharp songwriting, it’s a record that offers something new with each listen.
