Howling Hawk Ramona

Do you remember the time when Oasis ruled the world and their B-Sides were better than everyone else’s A-Sides? If you were a fan of The Masterplan, you might just appreciate Howling Hawk, a band who are keen to return to a time when bands had choruses and songs sound like B-sides from 95.

Howling Hawk – Ramona

Howling Hawk is a fusion of geography and inspiration. With members from Chile, Italy and the UK (Camden to be precise) they channel Britpop, The 60s Invasion and The Strokes to produce a blend of anthemic indie rock.

This exciting five-piece consisting of Paolo, Gonzalo, Jimmy, Clemente and Jim launch themselves into the world with their debut single Ramona. They openly confess there is no Ramona! But they rightly conclude “There is nothing better than singing a girl’s name over a heavy chord. “There is no Sally, but she’s turned up in loads of great tunes. Ramona might be our Sally, until I write a song about Sally too.”

The story behind the song goes a little deeper and is inspired by a boy losing his mind over a girl and trying to navigate his way in the world. It’s a classic story befitting a classic-sounding single. Ramona was recorded at Orange Hill Studios in Brentford working alongside talented engineer and music photographer James Stirrat and Cheff Cuco who mixed the track.

“Ramona is two parts Oasis, one part Stone Roses and a healthy dollop of Howling Hawk, it’s the musical equivalent of finding your old Doc-Martens at the back of the cupboard.”

The name Howling Hawk just sounds like a band you need to see live! Unsurprisingly they have already started gigging around London playing shows at legendary grassroots venues including The Hope & Anchor and The Dublin Castle. They also played their first headline show at Rooz Studio and found themselves in the presence of members of Babyshambles, who they describe as rock ‘n roll royalty. The next ambition is to plan a European micro tour in the year ahead.

Not resting on their laurels Howling Hawk have already shared their follow-up single Napoleon Road that further cements their place on your ones-to-watch list for 2025. If you like your new music with a retro twist Howling Hawk fits the bill.
