YFN Key2fly Drops Sizzling Debut Record “Sorry 4 The Wait”

You may have not heard of YFN Key2fly yet, but you need to because he has just released one of the hottest hip hop records. “Sorry 4 The Wait” is the young artist’s debut release. YFN Key2fly crafted this record to perfection and the dedication is clear in every single song. Rock the Pigeon is excited to dive in and break it down, track by track.

He opens up the record with an immediate banger. “Sorry For The Wait” starts with a fresh beat and a catchy hook melody. YFN Key2fly let’s listeners in on his backstory a bit on this song. He explains that he was working to get his sound perfect before releasing any of his work publicly. He has finally arrived. The beat of the song stands out with autotuned background vocals, a hypnotic beat, jazzy guitars, and some killer rap sections.

This song transitions seamlessly into “Down in Tears”, a deeply personal track, with catchy hook melodies, where YFN Key2fly fearlessly embraces vulnerability and openly expresses his grief about the unexpected loss of his young cousin. This raw honesty is the hallmark of a truly great artist. By pouring all of his pain and emotion into the music, YFN Key2fly allows listeners to connect deeply with those feelings. This vulnerability makes the song incredibly powerful, creating a safe space for listeners to process their own pain and grief through the music. This makes “Down in Tears” one of the most remarkable songs on the LP. YFN Key2fly emotionally sings: “Where we from it get dangerous…You left me drowning in my tears…When I first heard the news, I was sick to my stomach.”

“Did U Wrong” is a breakup song with classic lyrics about heartbreak and attempting to move on. This song is really well produced. The beat takes breaks throughout the track to give the listener a variation in sounds and energy. YFN Key2fly once again proves his talent for crafting catchy hook melodies. He also puts just the right amount of autotune on his vocal. It’s tasteful and not over the top. The melodies on this song fit really well with a touch of autotune.

“More Than Friends” is also about relationships. This song introduces another side of YFN Key2fly. Listeners will be immersed in a sexy R&B style beat, while YFN Key2fly lets listeners hear the lower end of his vocal range. This comes across as very sultry and definitely sets the mood for the listener. He sings with confidence:“Girl, I need you by my side…Would you be my ride or die? I know you’re still searching for some real love.” Honestly, this song is so good, if Drake hears it, he’s going to want to steal it for his own catalog.

Next, the EP transitions to another track that echoes the themes introduced in the opener. “So Lonely” delves into the struggles of pursuing fame and success in the fiercely competitive and often cutthroat music industry. The song explores the isolating nature of the climb to stardom, highlighting how the countless hours spent crafting a record and perfecting a sound can create distance from friends and family. An artist may become unrelatable to their friends who are pursuing other career choices. The song also touches on the emotional weight of feeling misunderstood, as friends may struggle to grasp or support the relentless drive to succeed in such a demanding field. The hook melody is an earworm: “they say it get lonely at the top, that’s what they told me.”

“Money Fetish” highlights one of the desires for stardom, to become rich and not have to worry about bills or mortgages, anymore. “I’m just trying to cash out like the lottery.” Well, YFN Key2fly is a hardworking artist with a sound that could achieve gold records and the money that comes with the success. This song has catchy melodies from start to finish. Every single melody is an earworm on this song. It is definitely one of the catchiest songs on the record.

“My favorite song on the album was “outro.” I had so much fun recording that song, but the whole album is hard…and the hardest song to record was down in tears cuz I actually cried making that song about my cousin who’s no longer here with us.” – YFN Key2fly

The record ends with “Outro” which echos the themes of the record, especially “Money Fetish.” YFN Key2fly gives the listener a conclusion paragraph with this last track. It’s a great cap to the record. This song has a bold bass beat and nonstop rhymes. Enjoy “Sorry 4 The Wait” by YFN Key2fly on Spotify now:
