Daily J Announce Highly-Anticipated Third Album, Scatterbrains, Share New Single

Aotearoa indie-rockers Daily J have today announced the highly anticipated release date for their new album, Scatterbrains set to drop on February 21st. To quench fans’ thirst after months of teasing the upcoming project, the band of brothers has unveiled the album’s final single, ‘Cheap Tequila Sunrise.’

‘Cheap Tequila Sunrise’ showcases Daily J’s signature blend of upbeat, psychedelic songwriting, a style that previously earned them a “Best Song” nomination at the Rolling Stone Awards. The track blends nostalgic lyrics with a carefree vocal delivery, solidifying their reputation for creating summery, feel-good anthems with a distinct Southern Hemisphere feel.

It’s a reflection on what it was like to be a kid before life got too complicated. So escaping the daily grind and dreaming of a better place.

‘Cheap Tequila Sunrise’ is the fourth single from the forthcoming album, produced by Joe Faris. It follows the success of ‘Tastes Like Forever,’ ‘Sunday Stitches,’ and ‘Happy Slides,’ which have amassed nearly a million streams on Spotify alone and received significant airplay on BBC Radio 1.   

The music video, shot on 16mm film, vividly depicts the feeling of reminiscing about youth.
