Emerging six-piece band Man/Woman/Chainsaw, hailed as a leading force in a new wave of British musical talent, have released their latest single, “Adam & Steve.” The track, part of a special AA-side release on the influential So Young Records label, follows the band’s critically acclaimed debut EP on Fat Possum in November, a sold-out UK headline tour in February, and a successful first appearance at SXSW in Austin last month.
The London-based collective, described by Rolling Stone at SXSW as “a young band in the process of inventing something ecstatically new,” recorded “Adam & Steve” at RAK Studios with producers Seth Evans, known for his work with Geordie Greep, and Margo Broom. The song marks a departure towards a more immediate and melodic sound for the band, featuring shared vocal duties between dual vocalists Billy Ward and Vera Leppänen
Lyrically, “Adam & Steve” explores themes of longing and potential loss, contrasting with the band’s previously more raucous output. Of the track, the band’s Billy Ward states,
We wrote Adam & Steve last year, and it’s our own bittersweet take on the heart-on-sleeve love song. It comes from a place of wanting to find a little fairy tale escapism in modern romance.
“Adam & Steve” will feature as one half of the AA side single, with the second song and further details to follow later this Spring.
