The Story Behind âAll Roads Lead to Atlantisâ
So, where did the phrase âAll roads lead to Atlantisâ come from? Itâs not just a slogan; Itâs a metaphor, a concept, a feeling, and a sentiment that captures everything Atlantis stands for.
It started to take shape while I was living in a lighthouse in the Santa Cruz Mountains and spending a lot of time at City Lights Bookstore, the 24/7 haven renowned as San Franciscoâs gathering spot for the Beat Generation, frequented by literary legends like Jack Kerouac and Bob Dylan.
It was there that I first encountered the idea of Atlantis as a lost world where people, from previous lives or other dimensions, find each other and reunite. This concept resonated deeply with me, especially as an idealist who often feels out of sync with the world around me.
Although I initially learned about Atlantis in the context of San Francisco as its physical location, I came to realize over the years that Atlantis isnât bound to a specific place. Atlantis is a state of both mind and being where creativity, peace, and social justice converge. Atlantis is wherever we are. Itâs our community, our movement, our vision, and our moment.
Fast forward to a recent conversation with my friend Vincent McNeeley, co-founder of We Are Love Festival and co-visionary for Atlantis. During one of our conversations, he said something that sounds so simple but struck me so deeply: âAll roads lead to Atlantis.â
This phrase perfectly captured the essence of what Atlantis is all about. Atlantis is a place where people from all walks of life can connect, create, and make meaningful progress together. Itâs a reminder that no matter where we come from or where weâre headed, weâre all on a path that leads to a space for creativity, unity, and social justice.
The launch of the merch store is just one part of a larger vision to continue building spaces that support creativity, activism, and inclusivity. Stay tuned for more merch drops, events, and collaborations. Atlantis is growing, and weâre so glad youâre with us.
With love and enthusiasm for a brighter world,
