Calvyn Cass has a Great Song for Pride Month and Beyond!

Calvyn Cass is igniting the radio waves with his latest release, Saturday Night; a vibrant, dance-ready anthem that is perfectly fitting for Pride Month celebrations. With its infectious pop groove and catchy lead vocal melody, the track reflects on the universal ache of feeling unseen in a relationship by a lover who isn’t showing up, a story that resonates whether the love is queer or straight. The lyrics humanize the queer experience. Blending polished production with Americana textures, Calvyn creates a sound that stands apart from the usual pride playlist staples. The rich, low-toned guitar paired with his raw, heartfelt vocals evokes shades of Orville Peck, adding emotional weight to the feel-good vibe. More than just a song, Saturday Night is part of Calvyn’s broader mission to amplify queer and trans voices and stories at a time when their rights are under attack.

“Setting out to pursue my music career at 33 years old, I wanted it to mean something in the world. My trans brothers and sisters and the non-binary community were being bullied by politicians and media outlets. It was disgusting to watch not only as a queer person but as a human being. I decided to embrace my divine feminine in all of my visuals from day one, dressing in drag in my first music video. This was in the hope to make any young person feeling victimized feel seen and accepted by me. My way of saying “I got you” which I carried into every video and visual I’ve created. In today’s climate I have decided that isn’t enough. Playing dress up has been fun but I want to treat this as seriously as it is. I need to visually be myself, a cis-gendered man, loudly speaking up online. Sharing daring moves and Important information with my fans and followers online. In doing so, I realized some people I cared about had lied to me about their beliefs. Unfortunately, some people involved in the making of this album project, who knew it’s creation was/is in to support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, were not honest with me about their views. I’ve since discovered that they are anti-trans/transphobic. It infuriated me that they left a stain on the integrity of my project. When confronted I realized how misinformed they were and my anger quickly turned to sadness. The picture that was painted to them was that trans people are a threat to their womanhood and existence. A false narrative that so many on the right have been convinced of to incite hatred against our people. Meeting this groomed perception with anger wouldn’t be successful. I had to show up with patience, love and kindness. I refuse to be who the rightwing conservatives(that are pushing this narrative) say I am. I am smart. I am powerful. I am informed. I represent a love and a acceptance that only the oppressed will ever know because we surround each other with it to survive. I am as privileged as they come in our community. I have the best fighting chance to break down doors for us all to walk through just because I am a white, cisgendered man. I want my fans to know that I will… and they won’t even see me coming.”
