Las Vegas based solo artist Brad Seven, better known by his moniker Seven, has unleashed his seventh full length album, and it’s a genre bending journey that’s as emotionally charged as it is technically impressive. Titled Interdimensional Act III: Shadows In The Sky, the record is the latest installment in Seven’s long-running concept driven discography, and perhaps his most immersive and ambitious yet. With its fusion of alt metal, progressive elements, emo undertones, and industrial textures, this album feels like a descent into a shadow realm where raw emotion and sonic chaos coexist in perfect tension.
Rock the Pigeon is excited about this release and wanted to spotlight a few standout tracks from the album.
The title track “Shadows in the Sky” sets the tone with a slow building instrumental intro that eventually erupts into a storm of angst ridden vocals and crushing guitar work. There’s a haunting interplay between the lower end chugs and the eerie lead lines that feel purposefully dissonant, pushing the listener into the album’s twisted emotional terrain. The emo influence is clear here, both in vocal timbre and lyrical urgency, but the music goes beyond genre with its cinematic tension.
One of the more deceptive tracks is “Rift,” which begins with a calmer tone before descending into heaviness. It’s a dynamic switch up that keeps the listener on edge and showcases Seven’s skill at building atmosphere before throwing the hammer down.
A major highlight for us is “The Catalyst.” It’s a masterclass in drum work, launching forward on the wings of a relentless double kick pedal that immediately signals the start of an onslaught. Rapid fire guitar riffs follow suit, perfectly aligned with the manic energy of the percussion. Vocals are run through tremolo effects, giving the track an otherworldly shimmer. This one also dips into screamo territory, but with well-placed breaks that give room for melodic vocals, a standout bass solo, and intricate guitar textures. It’s a track that doesn’t let up but still leaves space for experimentation.
Currently leading on Spotify streams is “Anomaly,” and for good reason. This one’s a monster, loaded with pounding rhythm guitars, syncopated drum grooves, and an industrial toned bass line that slithers through the mix. It’s hooky without sacrificing heaviness, and the guitar riffs are absolutely addictive. Emo inspired vocals add emotional weight to the aggression, making it a perfect blend of catharsis and chaos.
Right behind it in streams is “The Simulation,” a track that leans hard into experimentation. It opens with glitched out synths and wild vocal effects that feel futuristic yet unsettling. But it quickly finds its place among the rest of the record, with thunderous drums, searing guitars, and relentless momentum. What makes this track special is the technical showcase, it’s a moment where every instrument gets a spotlight, and each part is executed with absolute precision.
The record is heavy, haunted, and layered with meaning. If you’re a fan of alt metal, prog, emo, or even just daring sonic storytelling, this album is worth diving into, preferably with the volume all the way up.
