Fresh off a triumphant summer that’s seen them storm the stages at Wilderness Festival 2025 and SXSW London, Southend trio Soaked are back with a new single that packs both sonic bite and social weight. ‘Simple Little Things’ arrives on August 29th, and alongside the release, the band have launched a collaborative campaign with Beat, the UK’s leading eating disorder charity. The partnership includes a powerful accompanying music video, a new merch line with 50% of profits donated, and a run of social media content designed to raise awareness around eating disorders and body image pressures.

Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Brandon Frisby, Soaked formed in 2022 when Frisby brought in childhood friend Ronnie Cochrane on bass, before finding powerhouse drummer Alex Newman through a chance Instagram search. Out of heartbreak, boredom, and a refusal to play by the rules, the three-piece have carved a reputation for frenetic, explosive live shows. They’ve already opened for The Libertines and Skegss—who also took them on a full UK and European tour—while clocking up slots at Blue Reef Festival, SXSW London, and Wilderness Festival this year.

One of Soaked’s most striking releases yet, ‘Simple Little Things’ tackles the toxic impact of unrealistic beauty standards. Sonically, the track bristles with tightly-wound energy—a sharp, boxy blend of garage rock and indie that draws comparisons with The Strokes, The Clash, and Ramones. Driven by compressed electronic drums and wiry guitar lines, its DIY production style underlines the track’s raw but radiant edge.

Speaking about the single, Frisby explains: “There wasn’t one specific thing that made me want to write a song about self-image issues—it was more a combination of all the pressures young people face today to look perfect. We’re constantly targeted by corporations selling the idea of perfection, which simply isn’t real. The lyric ‘if only life was that simple’ acknowledges how deep-rooted and hard this problem is to solve. Still, if writing and performing this song makes even one person feel less isolated, that’s worth everything to me.”

He continues: “This song also marks the start of a more introspective writing style. We’ve leaned into electronic production for the first time—no big Marshall amps, just simulations. It’s a fresh sound for us, and keeps things unpredictable. That’s what we want Soaked to be: unpredictable, raw, and real.”

The decision to work with Beat came naturally, given the track’s themes. “Since the song focuses on body image and self-loathing, it felt important to do more than just write about it. Partnering with Beat allows us to make a real impact. If the proceeds from this track help even one person feel comfortable in their own skin again, that’s a number one hit for me. The rest is just meaningless numbers.”

In keeping with their restless creativity, Soaked are also launching a “Do It Yourself” Tour. Fans can submit requests for the band to perform in their homes or local spaces, with each stop encouraging local support acts to join. The tour will be captured for a short documentary later this year, further showcasing the band’s offbeat approach to connecting with their fans.

As they continue their rise from local dives to festival stages, Soaked are proving that their brand of fuzzy indie-punk isn’t just about distortion and defiance—it’s about connection, honesty, and using music as a force for good. ‘Simple Little Things’ is out August 29th on all streaming platforms.
