Liverpool indie-rock outfit The Memos release of the emotive new single ‘She’s On Her Own’, the latest glimpse of their upcoming EP Futures Ours to Find.
Having built a reputation for raw energy, heartfelt songwriting, and thoughtful lyricism, The Memos once again lean into their signature blend of 90s brit-pop nostalgia and modern guitar-led indie. Frontman Aaron Spencer’s affecting yet commanding vocal delivery drives the track, which builds from a stripped-back opening into an acoustic guitar-backed chorus before bursting into a euphoric main riff. Growing in intensity, the track culminates with a soaring guitar solo and a defiant, full-blooded final chorus.
Speaking on the single, Spencer reflects:
“She’s On Her Own was inspired by being raised by a single parent. As a kid when you see your mother smiling, it’s all you really need, but as you grow older you start to understand the struggle behind the smile. It’s a song that I never thought I’d release, but I played it to the band and they loved it. We knew it had to be shared. In the studio we pushed ourselves sonically to bring out the emotion in the story. A song we are really proud of as it feels hard to compare to other artists or our influences.”
‘She’s On Her Own’ further showcases Spencer’s growing reputation as a songwriter, with a career already including collaborations with Kyle Falconer (The View) and Justin Hawkins (The Darkness). Recorded and produced by Ben Harper (Mysterines, The Zutons, The Sherlocks) at the iconic Motor Museum, the forthcoming EP Futures Ours to Findmarks a bold step forward in The Memos’ artistic evolution.
