Operating in the tension between bliss and burnout, Berlin/Copenhagen-based artist Debbie Sings returns with her shimmering new single “Sunny Skies”, released via Big Oil Recordings. Known for her genre-blurring “recession pop,” Debbie delivers a track that’s both ecstatic and unsteady, a sparkling, lo-fi rush of chopped vocals, gleaming synths, and emotional turbulence.

Already a cult figure in Denmark, with performances alongside JADA and a standout set at Roskilde Festival, Debbie now sets her sights on the UK. “Sunny Skies” captures the fleeting moment when melancholy flips into mania, joy that’s electric but precarious. As she explains,

This song captures the rush of feeling invincible, euphoric, untouchable, yet with an undercurrent of something hauntingly off-kilter. I wrote it during a time when my smile was finally returning after a long period of tears. The happiness felt ecstatic but restless, almost chaotic, and that tension shaped the sound: dramatic, uptempo, and emotionally charged.

Self-written and self-produced, “Sunny Skies” is pure emotional whiplash, glossy, impulsive, and unafraid to unravel. With more music on the horizon for 2026, Debbie Sings stands poised to redefine European pop on her own dizzying terms.
