Divorce are celebrating a momentous year by sharing a special reworking of their former single, ‘Antarctica,’ this time featuring the distinct voice of Marcus Mumford. The original track serves as the opening song on the band’s critically acclaimed debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, released earlier this year on Gravity / Capitol. The new release puts an exclamation point on a highly successful period for Divorce, which included their first international tours, a memorable performance of ‘Antarctica’ live on BBC TV during their debut at Glastonbury, major award nominations, and appearances on several prominent End of Year lists.

The collaboration originated this past summer while Divorce was touring through the United States supporting Mumford & Sons, during which the bands quickly struck up a friendship. Marcus Mumford developed a deep affinity for the song, leading to an impromptu performance together, a clip of which the band later shared on social media. Sensing they had created something truly unique and special, the bands made sure to properly record and release the version. Co-vocalist and bassist Tiger Cohen-Towell captured the excitement surrounding the release:

“Meeting and playing shows with Mumford & Sons has been an immense privilege and a career highlight. They are the nicest guys. When we first asked Marcus to sing on Antarctica he seemed so genuinely excited; and what he ended up contributing to the song was so striking and tender that we needed to immortalise it to record.”
