Brooklyn-based songwriter Joe Sutkowski has shared “Bullshit Fuck,” the fourth and final single ahead of his third full-length album, Dirt Buyer III. Arriving February 6 via Bayonet Records, the track is a sprawling piece of “guttural shoegaze” that marks a significant leap in Sutkowski’s production. While the project began as lo-fi iPhone recordings, this new era leans into more muscular arrangements and a “dreamy grandeur” that balances heavy, overdriven riffs with plaintive, soaring vocals.
Of the single, Joe explains,
It’s really angry. It’s about feeling like a square peg. And dealing with trauma—it’s the angry part of processing feelings.
The album serves as a visceral document of a turbulent stretch in Sutkowski’s late twenties, written during a period of navigating family trauma and personal strain. Reunited with collaborators Hayden Ticehurst and Chris Cubeta at Brooklyn’s Studio G, Sutkowski culled the record from over two dozen demos down to 11 “heavy hitters.” The result is a widescreen version of the Dirt Buyer sound that feels both more confident and emotionally raw, cementing Sutkowski’s place as a central figure in the New York indie scene.
