Dutch five-piece Honey I’m Home have returned today with their latest single, ‘Pretty’, a track that masterfully bridges the gap between 90s alt-rock and shimmering shoegaze. Following a massive run of European dates supporting Hotline TNT and standout sets at Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial, the band, comprised of Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot, and Evelien Keesmaat, is currently gearing up for a high-profile spring. Their upcoming schedule includes a tour with LA’s Rocket, a highly anticipated appearance at SXSW in Austin, and further dates alongside Swedish indie-rockers Girl Scout.
‘Pretty’ serves as a sonically buoyant but lyrically sharp exploration of vanity as a survival tactic. Through sticky melodies and sunny distortion, the track dives into the hollow feeling of using one’s appearance as a shield against deeper depressive feelings. It’s a song that asks pointed questions about obsession and cynicism, contrasting its head-in-the-clouds sound with a gritty look at the psychological weight of being judged by your cover.
