Bacchanal Share Brooding New Single ‘To Do Lust’

Bacchanal have announced the release of their brooding new single, ‘To Do Lust’. The track continues a run of new material which has seen the band leaning further into their darker, more emotionally charged sound.

At its core, ‘To Do Lust’ explores the collapse of an affair, examining the push and pull between lingering desire and the inevitable need to let go. The opening moments of the first two verses unfold like a telephone conversation, drawing listeners into an intimate exchange before the tension begins to build.

Musically, the track is driven by a hypnotic, layered guitar motif that gradually unravels across its four-minute runtime. Anchored by a muscular rhythm section and delivered through a half-spoken, gritty vocal, the song steadily intensifies before breaking into a powerful, reflective outro that leaves a lasting resonance with the listener.

Speaking about the new release, the band said: “The song captures the slow unravelling of an affair, with the protagonist accepting that while there will always be an undercurrent of lust between them, walking away is ultimately the healthiest choice for both. There’s a tension between desire and closure that runs throughout the lyrics.

The opening lines of verses one and two are delivered to resemble a telephone conversation, creating an intimate, almost voyeuristic feel, as if we’re overhearing a private exchange. The track was recorded in Woking in December, during a period where the colder atmosphere mirrored the emotional tone of the song.

Unintentionally, the outro was the final piece written, added well after the main body was complete, giving the ending a reflective, almost afterthought quality. Sonically, the track draws inspiration from the raw emotion of Deftones, the urgency of Green Day, and the intensity of At the Drive-In.”
