Montreal’s Ada Lea, the artistic moniker of musician Alexandra Levy, today releases “something in the wind,” the second captivating single from her upcoming album, when i paint my masterpiece. The highly anticipated album is slated for release on August 8th via Saddle Creek. This new single’s debut is accompanied by exciting news: Ada Lea will embark on her first UK headline tour in nearly six years.

Of the single, Ada Lea describes,

I had a dream about this song and remember nothing. There is a constant in everyone’s life, which is the dream. When we recorded the song, Luke, who produced it, suggested we slow it down so Tasy could improvise a busy drum solo. Then, Jonas, engineer, sped the song up to its regular speed. Like a slowed down wink to Leonard Cohen himself.

Following the expansive, Chantal Akerman-inspired lead single, “baby blue frigidaire mini fridge,” “something in the wind” offers a more introspective listen. It’s described as a meditation on love, uniquely born out of a dream. Inspired by Nathan Fielder’s “the miracle over the mojave” performance on his show The Rehearsal, Ada Lea embraced an ambitious challenge for the song’s accompanying video. Under the guidance of director Brittney Canda, Levy dedicated six months to rigorously train as a figure skater. She viewed this demanding discipline as a perfect metaphor for navigating the music industry—likening it to an “icy cold” environment with omnipresent “judges,” where falling is inevitable but rising is always possible. This remarkable performance in the video signifies her joyful reconnection with the essence of music.

Levy’s UK tour will precede an extensive string of North American dates kicking off in September, including highly anticipated showcases for The Line Of Best Fit in London and Rough Trade in Bristol.
