Motor Vue are a band hailing from Portland, Oregon. They have over ten years of experience in each other’s musical company. This comes to light on their single ‘New Stars’.
The track opens with thumping drums and sliding electric guitar. The vocals are immediately purposeful. They are raw, raspy and collide magnificently with the backing instrumental. Recording the song live is a credit to the band’s belief in themselves, and a justified belief it is. The pure essence of soul, grit and intent overflows with beautiful precision into the ears of those lucky enough to listen. The chorus is undeniably catchy and worthy of a true, rock-induced head bang. The vocals are intensely unique and satisfying. The sound is one I cannot compare directly, offering a genuinely unique perspective.
The track feels like an ode to the ordinary person and the individual complexity of each journey. Everyone has contrasting desires to want more and also to remain settled. ‘New Stars’ captures this battle with poetic brilliance. The accompanying music video is beautiful and simple. It captures the power of the band and how much importance they place on their interpersonal bonds. Both with each other and with their audience.
The entire arrangement and project oozes class and musical excellence. Motor Vue are an outfit to keep an eye on, and we should all anticipate their future releases.
