London’s premier art-rock outfit Modern Woman have shared their latest single, ‘Neptune Girl,’ a restless and evocative track that dives into the “coming-of-age unease” of growing up in England. Built on a foundation of propulsive drums and jagged guitar, the track captures a specific brand of adolescent anxiety, pairing nostalgic melodies with the band’s signature avant-garde bite.

Of the single, frontwoman Sophie Harris states,

This was built off an image of growing up in England, playing in the roads and fields with a friend who later went up to heaven. Heaven is, I imagine, somewhere near Neptune.

The single arrives as the centrepiece of the announcement for their highly anticipated debut album, Johnny’s Dreamworld, out May 1st via One Little Independent Records. Drawing on influences ranging from post-punk to experimental folk, ‘Neptune Girl’ showcases the band’s unique ability to blend “the tender and the harsh.” To support the release, Modern Woman have also announced a string of new UK live dates, including a headline album launch show at The Lexington in London.
