Truthpaste have returned today with “Bus Song,” their first release of 2026 and a bold stylistic shift for a band that refuses to be pinned down. Out now via Dirty Hit and Memorials of Distinction, the track follows a breakout 2025 that saw their debut, “See You Around,” hailed by Steve Lamacq as one of the year’s best. While their previous work leaned into a pastoral blend of acoustic folk and electronic textures, “Bus Song” leans into what vocalist Esme describes as the band’s “emo rock” side, a high-energy duet that has already become a staple of their “unpredictable” live sets.

Of the single, Esme describes,

“Bus Song is our emo rock song. It’s another side to Truthpaste that it’s time people heard outside our live set. We don’t stick to one thing—if it sounds good, we’ll do it.”

The momentum behind the five-piece is becoming undeniable; their first two vinyl runs sold out almost instantly, backed by heavy rotation from Riley & Coe and Jess Iszatt. Built around a melody that co-vocalist Euan says “haunted” him for weeks before the band transformed it into a dual-vocal powerhouse, the single arrives just as Truthpaste prepares for a major UK headline tour this May. With a marquee date at The Lexington in London already generating buzz, the band look set to cement their status as one of the most essential new acts of the year.
