Fresh from a standout performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the massive success of her 2025 debut album Dancing At The Edge Of The World, Brooke Combe has officially entered her next era with the release of ‘Tears Won’t Lie.’ Marking her debut on Fontana Records, the track was produced by James Skelly (The Coral) at Liverpool’s Kempston Studios. Draped in Combe’s signature soul-filled vocals and a confident “Northern Soul” swagger, the single explores the raw clarity that emerges following the collapse of a long-term relationship.

Combe describes the track as a confrontation with suppressed emotional reality, but beyond the personal narrative, Combe continues to champion the UK’s burgeoning soul scene, noting that while indie and rock often dominate the conversation, the foundational influence of soul is what truly built the landscape of British music.

She describes,

“’Tears Won’t Lie’ is a song that explores the truth that surfaces after a relationship falls apart. It’s about someone who has spent years hiding their pain behind a smile, only to be confronted with the emotional reality they can’t suppress anymore. Sort of like the moment grief, self-awareness and reality meet, and you’re suddenly awake and won’t lose yourself to love again.”

The release is accompanied by a cinematic, retro-inspired music video directed by James Slater (Sam Fender, CMAT). Set in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, the visuals capture Combe at a Northern Soul night, fighting back tears while attempting to maintain the “mask” of everyday life. The announcement comes at a peak moment for the artist, who headlines London’s KOKO tonight as part of her second sold-out UK tour. With a summer of festival slots ahead and a major support tour with Jalen N’gonda, including a date at O2 Academy Brixton on October 28th, 2026, is shaping up to be Combe’s most definitive year yet.
