Hear Tender Glue’s Last Song Ever

Tender Glue, the moniker of Tom Gluewicki, is closing the chapter and “Cheers to Years” is the most beautiful possible way to do it. This is the final song from an artist who clearly poured everything into their music, and you can feel that weight and that love in every single second of the track.

The sound is enormous, drenched in reverb with anthemic vocals that call to mind the best indie rock of the early 2000s, the kind of music that felt like it was filling up an entire stadium even when you were listening alone in your bedroom. Then at the 1:21 mark everything shifts, a saxophone solo drifts in like a warm breeze and pulls you even deeper into the soundscape, and it is one of those genuinely unexpected musical moments that takes your breath away. The artist said it best themselves: “‘Bye’ is my final mini EP, and ‘Cheers To Years’ is the last song I’ll be releasing. It’s my tender goodbye to anyone who cared. I don’t have a big conclusion, only gratitude for the time, support, and sparks that brought this music to life.” The choice to end with a mini EP mirrors how it all began, a three song EP released over a decade ago, and that kind of intentionality says everything about who Tender Glue is as an artist. Cheers to years indeed. Thank you for the music.
