London’s latest indie four-piece, Saint Clair, have officially arrived, releasing their debut single, “Too Young To Notice,” via Black Butter Records. Formed through a mix of university friendships and a fortuitous connection with studio engineer Andrea Cozzaglio (known for his work with Young Fathers and A$AP Rocky), the band spent their formative years honing a sound that prioritises restraint over complexity. Completed by the addition of drummer Beth in 2024, whose background in nu-metal and hip-hop adds a distinct rhythmic edge, the quartet has quickly cultivated a reputation for tracks that thrive in their own “negative space.”
The band’s emerging philosophy is clear: they are a “songs band,” not a “musicians’ band.” This ethos is perfectly captured in their debut release, a track that expertly navigates the tension between fragile vocal moments and sudden bursts of distorted guitar. As frontman Toby explains, the track is a meditation on the bittersweet nature of early adulthood:
“Too Young To Notice is a song about patience and youth, about naivety and inexperience making it difficult to see that everything happens at the right time.”
Saint Clair are celebrating their launch with a double-header residency at London’s Blue Basement on May 6th and 7th. With the first date already sold out and tickets for the second running low, the band is quickly establishing themselves as a must-see new act in the capital’s live scene.
