Tracks of The Week: Iceage, Yard Act, Ebbb, BODEGA, and More!

The IINAG team has done the heavy lifting and curated this week’s essential new tracks so you don’t have to. Check out our picks below, then head over to the playlist for the full deep dive.

Iceage – The Weak

There is a jagged, cinematic tension in “The Weak” that feels like a cold sweat in a crowded room. Iceage have always been masters of the “beautifully unhinged,” and Elias Rønnenfelt’s vocal delivery here is particularly haunting, shifting between a desperate whisper and an authoritative snarl. The instrumentation feels heavy and intentional, with thick, atmospheric textures that lean into their post-punk roots while embracing a more mature, gothic grandeur. It’s a track that demands your full attention, crawling under your skin and refusing to leave until the final, echoing note. – Katie Macbeth

Yard Act – Redeemer

Yard Act have always been one of those bands that just get it. Their new single, “Redeemer,” is a spotlight on how to be smart without being too pretentious. It’s got that signature Leeds snarl that fans love, but there’s a new weight to it, punchier, louder, clearly benefiting from the band finally writing together in one room. The groove is absolutely relentless, leaning into a jittery, post-punk funk that makes you want to move even as James Smith’s lyrics tackle some pretty dark, cynical themes. It’s the perfect introduction to their new era: chaotic, catchy, and deeply questioning everything. – Lauren Moreton

BODEGA – Pick Up The Check

BODEGA’s brand-new ‘Pick Up The Check’ is a swirling ode to British psychedelia. It is no surprise that the track owes much to British music, given that it is the Brooklyn-based quintet’s first song recorded outside of New York, despite three LPs to their name already, having made the journey to Leeds’ Nave studios. The single takes aim at those in unfulfilled relationships, with lead singer Ben Hozie’s unmistakably New York vocals complementing a Stone Roses/Primal Scream half-funk, half-jangly groove. This transatlantic love letter to the 90s is somehow classic BODEGA and also an innovative taste of what’s to come. – Kai Marshall

Father John Misty – The Payoff

Father John Misty’s latest single, “The Payoff”, is another masterclass in Josh Tillman’s sharp, cynical storytelling. Stretching close to six minutes, the track slowly unfolds into a tense and unsettling listen, punctuated by a Beatles-esque guitar solo midway through. Its mood is cleverly framed by restless instrumentation, drifting between Tillman’s melodic vocals, haunting strings and frantic, reverb-soaked guitars, all of which deepen the song’s simmering unease. Working alongside Drew Eriksen, the arrangement becomes increasingly strained as the track progresses, before seemingly throwing in the towel and collapsing into the hypnotic closing refrain of “there’s nothing you can do.” This is his second single this year, but where is the album? Give us the album! – Henry Dunn

Ebbb – Now You Know

“Now You Know” is less of a song and more of an auditory hallucination. Ebbb managed to create this incredible, shimmering dreamscape where organic vocals meet sharp, glitchy electronic production. There’s a wonderful “push-and-pull” dynamic here; one minute you’re floating in a wash of ethereal harmonies, and the next, a staccato beat snaps you back to reality. It feels like the musical equivalent of a sunrise in a digital forest. – Lauren Moreton
