The IINAG team has done the heavy lifting and curated this week’s essential new tracks so you don’t have to. Check out our picks below, then head over to the playlist for the full deep dive.
Rostam ft. Clairo – Hardy
Grammy Award-winning Rostam draws on his alt-rock background with Vampire Weekend and reunites with Clairo for the first time since producing her debut to craft yet another pop gem. The production is dense and textured, recalling Hot Chip without pushing the listener to the dance floor. It is difficult to tell whether the sweeping strings are organic or electronic, and that ambiguity only deepens the track’s appeal. Paired with Clairo’s gorgeous, dreamy vocals, the result is an enigmatic piece of art-pop. – Kai Marshall
Flora Hibberd – Mammoth
Flora Hibberd returns with Mammoth, her first release since last year’s Swirl, and it feels beautifully weightless. Created with Ben Lanz in the Basque Country, the track drifts on dreamy guitars and Hibberd’s soft, intimate vocals, while subtle brass and ethereal backing harmonies add warmth and texture. The repeated chorus, “you with the gloves on now, why flee the feeling, does she not give her love,” becomes the song’s emotional centrepiece, with the layered harmonies swelling into its most powerful moment. An exciting return, Mammoth is a hazy, emotionally rich track that further showcases Hibberd’s range and songwriting ability. – Henry Dunn
Theatre – You Are
There is a staggering sense of scale in “You Are” that feels like it belongs in the final act of a cult-classic indie film. Theatre has a gift for taking those quiet, interior moments of devotion and blowing them up into something stadium-sized. The vocal performance is the real standout here; it’s fragile at the start, almost hesitant, before blooming into a powerful, soaring declaration over shimmering guitar layers. – Katie Macbeth
Bleech 9:3 – No Surprise
“No Surprise” is a total sensory overload in the best way possible. Bleech 9:3 leans hard into a glitchy, hyper-kinetic sound that feels like a nervous system firing on all cylinders. The production is incredibly tight; every mechanical snap and distorted synth line feels placed with surgical precision. It’s cold and metallic, yet the underlying groove is undeniably infectious. It’s a track that demands the listener to lean in, an anthem for people wanting to find comfort in the noise – Louie Richards
Walt Disco – Coup de Foudre
Nobody does “extra” quite like Walt Disco, and “Coup de Foudre” is a flamboyant triumph. It’s a dizzying swirl of post-punk attitude and baroque pop elegance, anchored by a vocal performance that is pure, unadulterated drama. The track captures that lightning-strike feeling of “love at first sight” with jagged riffs and operatic flair that feels delightfully out of time. It’s camp, it’s sophisticated, and it’s deeply charismatic, proving once again that they are the undisputed champions of making the avant-garde feel like the most fun party in town. – Lauren Moreton
