Lucia & The Best Boys ft Abigail Morris – Big Romance

Lucia & The Best Boys have released ‘Big Romance’, featuring Abigail Morris of The Last Dinner Party. The track makes brilliant use of both vocalists, with Lucia and Morris complementing each other effortlessly through big sweeping harmonies while also shining individually as they trade lines in a classic duet style. Channelling the dramatic indie-pop energy of Florence and the Machine, ‘Big Romance’ feels intimate yet vast, full of theatrical flair. Morris becomes the second exciting guest to feature on the band’s upcoming second album, following Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES, who appeared on the opening single ‘Lonely Girl’. The new album, Picking Petals, is released on 31 July. – Henry Dunn

Jack Kaye – Dora

The ghost of The Magic Gang hasn’t vanished, but on his debut solo venture, Jack Kaye pivots beautifully from basement indie to character-driven storytelling. “Dora” is an incredibly warm, unhurried piece of songwriting born from a long bout of writer’s block. Built on an infectious, jangly guitar motif, the track manages to feel both nostalgic and liberating. By stepping outside his own head to dissect a friend’s relationship, Kaye hits a rich, narrative vein that balances his classic pop sensibilities with a newfound, mature perspective. It is a stunningly confident reintroduction. – Lauren Moreton

Oisin Mod – Mirror Mirror

With a track that evolves from a raw, White Album-era Beatles demo feel into something resembling a middle-period Arctic Monkeys song, Irish artist Oisin Mod
draws on the best in the business to create Mirror Mirror. Blending bedroom pop and psychedelia, this Bill Ryder-Jones-produced single is his first release since his 2022
debut LP Honeycomb. The Galway musician sings softly about “pretending and observing that others are doing the same” over a cool groove that relies on melodic strength, something Mod possesses in abundance. – Kai Marshall

Gilla Band – Giraffe

An industrial nightmare in the best way, Gilla Band have made a surprise return with their new single, ‘Giraffe.’ Stretching their abrasive architecture to a breaking point, the track is built around a mechanical, concrete-scraping bassline that refuses to resolve, paired with Daniel Fox’s claustrophobic drum fills. Dara Kiely’s vocal delivery operates at its usual frantic pitch, unpredictable and paranoid, yet fiercely rhythmic. Gilla Band construct auditory hazards; if you thought they might settle into a groove after all these years, “Giraffe” proves they’re still committed to pure, thrilling structural demolition. – Katie Macbeth

DBA! – Little Rivers

There is a gorgeous, fluid weightlessness to DBA!’s latest offering. “Little Rivers” floats along a stream of shimmering, ambient-pop textures, anchored only by a delicate electronic pulse and sparse, emotional percussion. The track relies heavily on empty space, letting the echo of the synths breathe before washing over the listener in waves of quiet euphoria. It’s an exercise in supreme restraint, capturing the exact sensation of watching water move at dusk. For a project prone to grand statements, this quiet, immersive dive into minimalist electronic folk is easily their most intoxicating work yet. – Ollie Thomas
