From school talent shows to sold-out Manchester headliners, The Cases are living proof that dreams can come true.
This debut EP from The Cases is the perfect blend of youthfulness and maturity, melodies, and swagger, showcasing what upcoming British indie music is currently all about.
The Cases, consisting of members Harry Hornsby (Vocals and rhythm guitar), Will Bullen (Lead guitar), James Maher (Bass), and Matt Barron (Drums), are using the momentum behind them to great effect. Backed by what they see as the best fans in the world.
This EP is surely to garner a lot of well-deserved attention, especially if the opening track, Mr Penny, is anything to go by. Already a crowd favourite at their packed-out gigs, this is the perfect example of what The Cases are about: crisp, clean chords, infectious beats and rhythm fronted by the storytelling of frontman Harry. The Curse, with its bluesy opener, is another quintessential Cases track, whilst She Said kicks off with a somewhat sonic soundscape, maybe influenced by the work in the studio.
Recorded at Kempton Street Studios in Liverpool by renowned producer Chris Taylor (previously worked with Blossoms, The Courteeners, The Guest List, to name just a few), is the perfect situation for The Cases to find themselves in. Allowing Chris to sprinkle his experience, knowledge and magic onto what The Cases had to offer. An EP of honest integrity:
“If you’re gonna get into a relationship, everyone’s got a chance of getting hurt. When it works out, everyone’s happy, but if not… you can end up like ‘Mr Penny’. It’s a fictional story, but it’s something that many people go through. Between the ages of 16 and 19 you think you’ve found the love of your life, but it often doesn’t work out.”
There’s a new wave of guitar-driven indie bands fighting for our attention, and The Cases are certainly one of those.
