Sydney-based indie rock powerhouses The Buoys have announced their highly anticipated sophomore album, Concrete Cowboy, scheduled for release on October 23rd via Sony Music Australia / Music For Nations. To celebrate the announcement, the band has unleashed the record’s explosive lead single, “Welcome To My Brain,” alongside an accompanying music video and a headline autumn tour. The news comes at a monumental moment for the quartet, who were recently announced as the main support act for Foo Fighters’ upcoming stadium tour this November.

Produced by Chris Collins (Royel Otis, Gang of Youths), Concrete Cowboy features co-writing contributions from Alistair Hayes, Fletcher Matthews, Konstantin Kerstin, and Dylan Ollivierre. While their debut LP Lustre saw the band testing their sonic boundaries across different genres, Concrete Cowboy serves as the ultimate distillation of their signature sound: a thoughtful, highly intuitive blend of soaring indie-pop hooks and gut-punching rock.

The record draws from an eclectic well of inspirations, ranging sonically from the groove of Nile Rodgers and the glossy pop of The 1975 to the indie sensibilities of HAIM and The Beths. Lyrically, the album is a surrealist landscape shaped by 80s cult cinema, Roman poetry, and vivid personal dream sequences.

Reflecting on the album’s core theme, the band shares:

“We were in the studio together when the phrase came to us: too many tabs open. That became the heartbeat of the record. ‘Concrete Cowboy’ is about trying to keep pace with a world that never slows down, and what you find when you finally stop. Dreams, repressed memories, the blur between what’s real and what your mind has been quietly holding.”

Following the album’s release, the band will embark on their own Concrete Cowboy headline tour across the autumn, before joining Foo Fighters on the road.
