Grandmas House have unveiled “Blue Oblivion,” the final pre-release single from their highly anticipated debut album, Baby You’re A Winner. The new track arrives exactly one month ahead of the album’s August 21st release via Brace Yourself Records, alongside the announcement of a UK record store tour.
Built around churning, yearning verses and a slithering guitar line that recalls early PJ Harvey, “Blue Oblivion” eventually explodes into an intensely physical chorus. The track thrives on its sharp sonic contrasts and serves as a major turning point for the band’s creative process.
The band explain,
“Writing ‘Blue Oblivion’ was a pivotal moment for us as a band, as it made us realise that we didn’t have to write music within any boundaries. It opened up the way we would go on to write the rest of the album, encapsulating feelings of love and loss with a balance of light and dark.”
To celebrate the album’s arrival, the group will embark on a week-long UK record store tour next month. Kicking off on release day at Banquet Records in Kingston, the run will hit independent shops in Southampton, Oxford, Liverpool, and Leeds before culminating in a major hometown instore at Rough Trade Bristol on August 27th.
Hometown fans will also get an early preview at a free-entry album listening party on July 31st at the Bristol Beer Factory. The event promises exclusive Grandmas House collaborative beer cans, Pizzarova food specials, prizes, and an appearance by the band’s mascot, The Headless Man.
These instores precede a massive headline tour spanning the UK and Europe from September through November. The extensive run kicks off in Tromsø, Norway, and includes European stops in Stockholm, Berlin, and Paris before heading back to the UK for landmark shows at London’s Oslo on November 17th and Bristol’s iconic Thekla boat on November 21st.
