Kristóf Hajós Croons on “Fifty Times Over (we own the world)”

Queer Crooner Kristóf Hajós’ “Fifty Times Over (we own the world)”

As a self-professed “weird pop” artist, this is the kind of weird that feels like a sigh of relief in a strange and beautiful forest; Kristóf Hajós’ release of “Fifty Times Over (we own the world)” is as true to that description as it gets. Even still, the context surrounding the song, the elements of the track itself, and the artist’s notable qualities deserve a longer hike through its natural and impressive complexities.

“Fifty Times Over (we own the world)” is this queer crooner’s lead single off his fourth album. Blended to perfection, Kristóf Hajós’ rich and intimate vocals create a gorgeous and organic unison with hip-hop breakbeats and crunchy guitars throughout the record. But as far as this single goes, we hear a more indie-forward side on this more relaxed and peaceful song. It goes to show that “weird” is sometimes code for “different,” or “ahead of its time, and so good there’s not a single, amply descriptive word for this quite yet.”
More than that, there’s an uncanny hopeful sound that sounds like a love song played just for you. Beyond the sound, the meaning behind “Fifty Times Over” brings a brightness and grounded feeling often accompanied by finding yourself beside someone you’d do life with over and over again.
“Sometimes when you find yourself next to someone you realize you could do this over and over again.” – Kristóf Hajós
