Swedish indie-rock outfit Gone Future have unveiled their bracing second single, “Something Else,” marking their latest release via Stockholm tastemaker imprint PNKSLM Recordings (Clutter, 7ebra).
Building on the swaggering psych-rock foundation of their debut single “Nightcap,” the newly minted quartet push into synth-forward territory on “Something Else.” The track explores themes of modern burnout, relentless consumption, and emotional fatigue, capturing the restless cycle of search for meaning in an overstimulated world.
Elaborating on the stark emotional landscape behind the new single, the band shared:
’Something Else’ is post-pandemic flames, or ashes. That bottomless feeling of under-stimulation, even though you know you’ve been hanging around too much. But it’s been with the wrong crowd, and at all the wrong places. You’re picking up the shambles afterwards, and yet you keep doing it, again and again. It’s about a life constantly evolving, speeding. Making money, spending it. Making friends, and losing them. Loving so much it just turns to hate. All the while reassuring yourself, ‘I’m alright, I’m comforted.
Having made their live debut in Stockholm earlier this year alongside a support slot for label mates Clutter, Gone Future are set to perform their first-ever UK show next month. The band will join fellow PNKSLM artists Sibille Attar and Stephanie Gilbert for a special label takeover at The Social in London on October 20th.
