Transatlantic alt-pop duo Prima Queen have released their infectious new track, “Dirty Rascal,” out today via Submarine Cat Records following an exclusive premiere on BBC 6 Music with Huw Stephens.
Produced alongside Oli Deakin (CMAT), “Dirty Rascal” serves as the direct follow-up to spring single “Crumb” and their acclaimed 2025 debut album, The Prize. Following the LP’s Top 10 run on the UK Independent Albums Chart, extensive European touring, and summer festival appearances, including dates at All Points East and Crystal Palace Bowl supporting Bastille and The Wombats, the new track ushers in the next chapter for the London-based outfit.
Centred around post-breakup clarity and emotional liberation, the track pairs vibrant pop sensibilities with reflective songwriting. Elaborating on the personal narrative behind the release, the duo shared:
“It’s about trusting a quiet knowing that you need to let someone go and the feeling of freedom you feel after it; there’s a type of peace that comes after a breakup when you both know you have your own version of events which can both be true and co exist simultaneously because you no longer have to.”
Having built significant tastemaker support across BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and press outlets including The Guardian, NME, and Rolling Stone UK, Prima Queen are set to announce further live dates and new music in the coming weeks. “Dirty Rascal” is available to stream across all digital platforms now.
