Drama Dolls invite us to release our worries for just a moment with their latest track, “Dancing”
The gnashing, thrashing, defiant energy behind the band Drama Dolls go toe to toe against fascism and The Boot of Patriarchy. But this time, they match that energy with the radical reclamation of ourselves through dance. Their latest single, “Dancing,” is the harmonious anthem of breaking out of the doom spiraling of the world around us through allowing our bodies to move to the music until they drop.
A simple yet thunderous rock beat kicks off the track, joined quickly by distorted guitar with attitude and powerhouse vocals. The vocals prop up the style while the lyrics set the tone for a stage the Drama Dolls seem to know well.
“Friday night, nowhere to go
Bunch of bills and no money flow (oh, no)
Work sucks and the news is filled with woe
Can’t seem to get it right
Lot of issues with no end in sight
Wrote a song ’cause I feel down tonight
Dancing, dancing
Let’s solve our problems with dancing
Dancing, dancing
Let’s solve our problems with dancing”
Straightforward but catchy as hell, the band is astute about the big picture drags in life while remaining astutely committed to dance off the stress. Band Members Egg (guitar and lead vocals), Scrambles (drums and vocals), and Mama T (bass and vocals) give us a relieving track that relates to the stressors of pants not fitting and a sick pet. Despite the lyrics about loneliness and sleepless nights, there’s a call back to what is a stress relieving option.
The powerchord simplicity and sing-a-long factors of the song shouldn’t be taken for granted. Putting something so cathartic together from a genuine place and cranking out such a killer and punchy mix, Drama Dolls’ guitars dance along with the rhythm section with a clarity of mind and some punk resolve despite the various degrees of pain in day to day life.
“Drama Dolls are the raw, unfiltered heartbeat of punk rock in 2026.” BUST MAGAZINE
The distorted and higher octane guitar tones juxtpositioned to the singalong of “ba-da-ba-da-bas” are somewhat of a nutshell of “Dancing” and the band at large. The track inspire us, energizes us, and gives us a chance to shake off the bullshit in somatic release. More often than not, it’s a pretty simple solution that the band has come to share with us:
“Everything’s a mess, and we all need a dance break.”
Yet again, this radical punk rock trio reminds us of what’s been the answer and the cathartic solution the entire time. Their fall 2026 full-length releases this coming November, and Drama Dolls have yet to shy away from their rascal-esque, good-trouble sting of punk bad assery.
