Rising singer-songwriter Izzie Derry has been on fire so far in 2023, releasing stellar song after stellar song. It’s now time for her debut album, Til We Reach The Sun. The project reflects the unique musical vision of Izzie. She does things differently than everyone else.
Til We Reach The Sun explores themes of injustice, self-discovery, and empowerment as they relate to being a young woman in today’s world. Lyrically, it really speaks to the heart.
There are plenty of highlights on this album. Broken and Used is one of them. It examines how someone who takes you for granted can negatively impact your life. Nothing Lasts Forever also fascinates us. It begins acoustically, with guitar leading the way, but becomes increasingly textured over time. Here We Go Again blends indie pop and classic rock well. We predict it will be a crowd favorite. The other songs here are just as noteworthy as the one we discussed above.
In celebration of the release of the album, Izzy performed yesterday at Brighton Unitarian Church, a venue known for its historic charm and its particularly conducive acoustics that contribute significantly to the performance environment. Seeing it must have been spectacular.
Til We Reach The Sun emphasizes Izzie’s skill set. It seems like a solid foundation to build on, so we strongly encourage you to listen to it. You’ll be glad you did.
