Belgium singer-songwriter Joël Francis releases her new single Cabbage Rose. Its production has a laid-back vibe with soulful guitars, an easy beat and an unhurried tempo. The melody flows smoothly parallel to the lyrics which convey themes of unattainable love. Like the rose, the relationship represented by the song was cultivated and nurtured but destined to be short-lived.
While the song reflects sadness, it also embodies optimism. It almost seems as if Francis wants us to know that imperfect relationships and false starts are part of the process of finding real love.
