New York-based alt-pop singer-songwriter Hillary Capps has a timeless sound that fascinates quickly. She releases Reeds, the lead single off her new EP from the quiet of the underworld. It uses wonderful string arrangements to accompany atmospheric pop textures. The vocals sound soothing and flow in a gentle rhythm.
The song examines how humans relate to themselves, objects, each other, and spirit after death. It almost feels like an impressionist painting. After 3 minutes and 20 seconds, the experience is as peaceful as the experience in the film Inception, with the exception that you are immersed in a dream within a dream.
