Today, Crack Cloud release new single, ‘The Medium’, the second to be lifted from their upcoming new album, Red Mile, which will be available July 26th through Jagjaguwar. Last month, the band released the album’s lead single, ‘Blue Kite’, and ‘The Medium’ is Red Mile’s central idea – a tribute to rock music and those who make it. The single shows that even though the old feeling of ‘I love rock and roll’ seems old and forgotten, it can be brought back to life and put together again.
The track arrives accompanied by its music video, a cinematic adventure, perfectly capturing the band’s aesthetic, simultaneously sincere and combative, youthful yet wise, meticulous and carefree – featuring a group of people, with everything at stake, proclaiming their cathartic mission statement.
Red Mile represents a significant departure from the band’s previous albums, Pain Olympics and Tough Baby, both of which are characterised by their long, isolated creative processes. This time, Red Mile is the result of rapid group collaboration, showcasing Crack Cloud’s evolution into a more focused rock outfit. The result? Their most mature and significant work yet, demonstrating a newfound vitality and maturity.
Crack Cloud have announced extensive North American, UK and European tour dates for the rest of 2024, including the band’s biggest headline show to date at London’s KOKO on Sept 25th (tickets here*).
