Cambridge indie-rockers LAY / BYE share the satirical, infectious and vibrantly fun new single, ‘Love Songs Are Boring <3’.

Produced by the talented Matt Turner and Grammy-nominated Robin Schmidt (Acclaimed for their work with the likes of The 1975, The Vaccines, and Nothing But Thieves), ‘Love Songs Are Boring <3’ is a departure from the bands indie-rock sound, bringing a synth pop vibes adorned with plucky, upbeat guitar tones.

Washes of synth and underpins the buoyant guitar lines and driving bass and drums to create a uplifting backdrop for the melodic, cutting and at times, surprisingly melancholic lead vocals.

Talking about the track, the band explain:

“Love Songs Are Boring <3 is a departure from our usual raucous riffs, diving deep into the introspective world of pop music. The song touches on the idea of loving someone you shouldn’t through clever lyrical references and subtle cues from our awe-inspiring instrumentals. It’s a reflection on the cliché love stories we hear in popular film and literature, composed into a piece of art that resonates with our listeners.”

Brimming with a sense of energy and purpose, the new single showcases the commercially viable and radiant songwriting the band are capable of.
