Stellar Jays, out of Seattle, have recently dropped two incredible tracks, and they have another song on the way!
The first song Rock the Pigeon wants to highlight is “Mojave.” It’s a powerful anthem about discovering your inner strength, embracing your talents, and staying confident even when others around you are full of doubt. It’s about pursing what you want to pursue, regardless of what naysayers have to blab on about. The singer sings with confidence throughout the track. The chorus will quickly get stuck in your head and by the end of the song you will definitely find yourself singing along; “This is a song for no one. This is a song for no one. This is a song for no one, no one but me.” The chorus is quite anthemic and very catchy!
Rock music fans will be thrilled at the organic instrumentation and performance on this track. It’s filled with so much soul, it’s impossible to not become a fan of Stellar Jays. The first aspect of the song that sticks out was the grooving bass line. The electric guitars were next to steal our attention, they riff throughout the track, giving the song a rock n’ roll feel to it. The bluesy style guitar riffs are full of energy and soul. The vocal tone is slightly (early) emo/alternative, which gives the band a fresh sound in their genre. This is a standout song with lots of incredible moments! Hear it on Spotify now:
The second song of Stellar Jays that Rock the Pigeon fell in love with was “What if I told ya.” This song is literally all love, it’s a song that Stellar Jays frontman wrote to his wife to showcase his love for her to the entire world. This Americana-inspired ballad is absolutely gorgeous from start to finish. The song features a well-done three-part harmony that may remind listeners of The Beach Boys. It also features slide guitars, which really sell the Americana feel of the track. Listen to this beautiful love song on Spotify now:
This is a love song really to my wife, trying to capture that early relationship stage where you’ve been dating and you know this is something special but don’t want to jinx it. She also to this day gets up and leaves for work before me, hence “the light from the east will soon whisk you away.” – Stellar Jays
On November 8th, Stellar Jays will release another song called “El Dorado.” This song is actually my personal favorite out of the three of the songs. This is because the vocal melody is immediately captivating. It sounds like early emo songs that I love. Plus, all the lyrics are very powerful and relatable. This song features distorted electric guitars, harmonica, and lyrics about feeling stuck and lost geographically and metaphorically. Stay tuned for this incredible song to release.
