Berkshire indie-rock band Rila’s Edge return with their anthemic new single ‘Pimlico Road’. Produced by Max Helyer of You Me At Six, alongside Jordan Timms and Max Smith from Numen Studios, the single showcases a confident evolution in the band’s sound.
The track opens with bright, strummed guitar and urgent, expressive lead vocals, instantly capturing attention. As driving drums and warm bass join the mix, the song builds momentum, carrying the listener toward a euphoric chorus packed with soaring vocal lines and bursts of fuzzy, distorted guitar. Thoughtful shifts in dynamics during the second verse highlight the band’s tight musicianship, while a melodic middle eight leads to a climactic, explosive final chorus. ‘Pimlico Road’ shines as a blend of indie-rock intensity and accessible, melodic appeal.
Frontman Ollie sheds light on the inspiration behind the track:
“’Pimlico Road’ began as a voice note from my friend Rob Jones, guitar tech for artists like Miles Kane and Sea Girls. Rob is an incredible writer but without his own band, he often sends me song ideas—just a verse and chorus—from tour buses and greenrooms, and I flesh them out into demos. For this track, I was thinking about how cities like London can feel either magical or lonely, depending on who you’re with.”
Influenced by bands like Cage the Elephant and Smashing Pumpkins, the band aimed for a loose, fuzzy feel. Working with Max Helyer was a dream come true for Ollie.
“I grew up with a poster of his band on my wall. Using his guitars and pedals massively elevated the sound quality, and his recording experience opened up new possibilities for the track. His energy made the process feel fresh and inspiring for all of us.”
Rila’s Edge have been gaining traction with airplay from BBC Radio 1 and Radio X, as well as ongoing support from BBC Introducing Oxford and Berkshire. Building a reputation for their electrifying live performances, the band has sold out headline shows across the UK and supported acts such as Little Comets, The Hubbards, Sad Boys Club, and Make Friends.
‘Pimlico Road’ is a powerful addition to Rila’s Edge’s catalog, blending raw emotion and stadium-ready energy with an authenticity that resonates deeply. This release is another step forward for a band steadily cementing themselves as one of the most exciting acts in indie rock today.
